New Treasures

Since we've been helping clean out my grandma's house there was lots of things left over that was being donated to the DI.  I decided that I wanted her old luggage.  They don't really match each other like the pretty ones you see at antique stores or during photo shoots but, I really like them.  One of them still has my grandma's name on it.

I also was given all of my grandma's sewing supplies.  As I've been unloading it all, I've found some pretty nifty stuff.  My grandpa's Coast Guard release forms, my grandma's old stake missionary name tag, and these things.

A pillowcase that someone had hand embroidered the United States on.  They started to label the 48 states, but never finished.  I asked my mom if it was hers but she said no, so it must be my Aunt Sheri's old project.

Then I also found this, a flannel baby jacket.  It's pretty cute.

I am also in button heaven.  I'm going to start making some button art because to use some of them up.  Also, I have so much thread I'm excited that I won't have to buy any for awhile.

Birdhouses

For Lilli's Home Life class, one of the projects was to build a birdhouse.  They provided the plans, which ended up being a complete birdhouse made from a single board.  It happened to be perfect because one of Hoss' Tiger Cub electives is also to build a birdhouse.  First they got their board and started marking their cut lines.

Then Sexy Farmer helped them trim the wood.

Hoss and Lilli each made their own, but had to borrow the hammer.

Then Lilli got her turn to nail hers all together.

Complete.

Lilli didn't want a stand for the birds, so hopefully they can still get inside.

Thanksgiving

I asked my sister Danna Jo to take our family pictures during Thanksgiving.  Duke fell asleep on the way to Vale and was not happy at all when we woke him up for pictures.  So,  after many, many attempts at trying to make him smile or even look at the camera we settled on these as our two favorites.

Boone is such a nut.

Then we took family pictures of our other sister, Kimberly.

And the two girls in the tree.

We went back to Vale the next day to work on my grandma's house.  She moved in to an assisted living facility so we went to help clean out her house to sell.  We all took the same clothes as the day before and tried family pictures again.  Duke wouldn't cooperate then either, so I'm not sure what we will do for Christmas cards.

Popcorn

In community sponsored Cub Scout Pack's they sell popcorn.  We weren't too excited about it, but at the same time, we felt that since we were only going to be part of their program for 1 year that we should fully support their efforts.  So, Hoss sold popcorn.  Lots of popcorn.  No really, a WHOLE LOT of popcorn.  He was the highest seller with over $3000 sold.  As a result of selling so well, that also means that he had to deliver the sales.

But also as a result of so many sales, that meant that he also earned some rewards.

He picked some walkie-talkies, and outdoor set which included a pocket knife, binoculars, compass, water bottle and flashlight, then a backpack, and then a surprise grab bag, which ended up being a fishing pole and some finger glow lights.  And also for selling so much be earned a rocket set.  He also got a popcorn patch for his shirt.  He did really well, but I'm also very glad we only have to do that once!

Boone's New Ride

Lilli was vacuuming the floors today and all the sudden the canister got heavy.  She turned around and found this.  He thought it was the best ride ever and wouldn't get off.

Elk Hunting

At Elk Camp this year Sexy Farmer and his buddy Weston were looking at Sexy Farmer's dad's camp chair and thought that it reminded them of a wheelchair.  So Saturday night they came up with a plan to prank his dad and his dad's friend Dean.  Chris left to go back to Vale and Dean hadn't arrived yet so Sunday gave them the perfect opportunity to put their plan to action.

Weston made the wheelchairs by cutting rounds off trees.  While he was doing that, Sexy Farmer made a sign to welcome Chris and Dean to camp.  He used a tent stake and would heat it in the fire to burn the words into another slice of wood.  They hung the sign above the kitchen of the other men's tent.

Then placed the wheelchairs under the sign.

They were hoping that Dean and Chris would come back at the same time, but Dean arrive first.  He was a great sport and even posed for pictures.

Hoss and Lilli were able to go up for a few days.

They helped collect firewood, hunted, and enjoyed lunch with the whole group.

One night it snowed 12 inches.  Weston and Sexy Farmer didn't let it stop them from hunting though.

Snow

We finally see snow!  It seems that it never snows anymore.  I remember having snow as a child for Thanksgiving, and now I don't remember the last time I've had snow for Christmas.  Hopefully it'll stick around for awhile.  The boys are loving it!  Yes, a sled would make it easier to pull around your brother, however, they were supposed to be picking up all their toys in the sand box.

House Painting

We are moving.  Again.  This has been a back and forth decision for many months now. Sexy Farmer's company just purchased another farm and there is a house that is bigger than ours on the property.  It was offered to us, but I'm not on board.  Sexy Farmer told his boss we would take it, so I guess I don't have a choice in the matter.  So, we have been painting.

Hoss wanted to help, so he started in Boone's room.

Then fell asleep.

Sexy Farmer finished it himself.

Lilli chose gray with yellow dots for her new room.

There was some pretty ugly wallpaper in the dining room that needed removed.

Duke loved it.

Then for Hoss and Duke's room, we went with John Deere.  They are pretty excited.
The workers are still finishing up some remodels but we are hoping to be in by the first couple weeks of December.  They gutted the entire upstairs bathroom, and then some little odds and ends around the house.  (light fixtures, door handles, carpet, etc.)  It will be nice having one more bedroom, a dining room, and be closer to the farm, but something inside me just isn't sold yet.  Maybe with time.

School Projects

Lilli is enrolled in two fun classes.  First is called Home Life, it is pretty much like a Home Ec. class.  The second is an Arts & Crafts club.  She's been making some pretty fun projects, here are a few from both classes.

Spaceship

Crayon Art

Boogie Man

Cake

Pizza

and Pie, it was supposed to be pumpkin, but her teacher was super nice and let her make apple instead.

Scouting for Food

Hoss was able to participate in the annual Scouting for Food.  I was bummed that our pack didn't participate, it's such a good service project.  He has grown so much since joining Tiger Cubs, it has been a blessing to our whole family.  He really enjoys all the activities.

Work Day

The boys went to work with Sexy Farmer today.  I always end up laughing out loud at the pictures he sends me.  He took them to lunch at Jack in the Box and Duke's face is hilarious.

But at the same time as laughing, I'm always amazed too.  It never fails that he can put them to sleep.  Every. Single. Time.
