April's Scripture Hero was Alma. Hoss has been such a champ at memorizing the scriptures that go along with each hero. This month's scripture took a bit longer for him to memorize though. He got assigned to give a talk in Primary so we again included the scripture as part of his talk so that he had to just buckle down and get it done. He memorized most of it with me at home, but finished it when he went spraying in Ironside with Sexy Farmer.
The trait for the month is "Repent" and the requirements were..
1. Memorize Mosiah 18:9
2. Write or draw something the prophet said in general conference.
President Monson didn't speak much during conference this time, but the boys did get a few things from his words. Hoss drew a picture President Monson and also a temple and wrote "4 new temples" next to it.
Duke drew a picture of 2 people and then another picture of 1 person with an X through it. We asked him what that meant and he said, "President Monson told us to make good choices and you should never go anywhere alone. You always need to be with someone else so you don't get lost."
3. Pick one way to change for the better and try it this month.
Hoss and Duke both chose to work on being more responsible with their chores. Which actually is kind of a big thing right now since they just got goats.
4. Challenge..In the Friend there was a section where it reminded us of some things that President Monson has said in past conferences. It said to challenge yourself to do one of them. So, they chose to put a picture of the temple in their bedroom. They each chose their own.We ordered them each a brand new 5x7 picture from the distribution center and as soon as they arrived we framed them and hung them by their beds.
Hoss chose Oakland, California
Duke chose Laie, Hawaii
Boone chose Provo, Utah (the old one)
What they learned about Alma...
Hoss - You can make wrongs, right.
Duke - He was bad and is now a good guy.
